We’re back!

We’ve been hunkered down like all of you, waiting for the day when we could see you again, and that day is (almost) here! We can’t wait to see your lovely faces, and as you probably expect, it’s NOT business as usual. We’ve got some updates to share about how it’s all going down, so please keep reading! 

Here’s the Plan

First off, we want to THANK YOU! We have received so much positive support and good will from all of you over the past few months, it has been a wonderful motivation to continue to evolve and adapt during these challenging times. Our first day welcoming customers back will be this Friday, June 19th! 12:00 – 5:00pm!

While we are excited to have you back in the shop, we will not be operating exactly “business as usual”. We’ve taken a bit of time before deciding to re-open, so that it’s enjoyable for you, sustainable for us, and safe for everyone. The fact is the way we work, and the way you shop has changed, and we must all learn a new way forward. 


Our first stage (June 19 – 30) we’ll be open:
Friday & Saturday,  June 19 & 20
Thursday, Friday & Saturday June 25, 26 & 27

12:00 – 5:00pm

Then we’ll be open at least 5 days a week starting June 30 as our team returns to work. We plan to assess this way of doing business – along with any new government guidelines – and make adjustments as necessary starting July 1st. This is a new way of operating for all of us, and we truly appreciate your continued support and flexibility as we navigate this new reality.

In-store Shopping

Here’s how it will look when you come visit us at Recess.

+ Capacity: We are limiting our capacity to 4 customers at a time.

+ Social Distance: There will be indicators on the ground to direct you where to stand while waiting to come into the shop, and also when waiting to checkout.

+ Sanitize: You will be asked to sanitize your hands upon entering the store. 

+ Grab a basket: You will be provided with sanitized basket to carry around while you shop. Please keep the basket with you at all times, and return it to us when you’re finished shopping. This helps us to manage the number of people in the shop.

+ If you are showing any symptoms, please stay home and order online. If you demonstrate any flu-like symptoms while in the shop, you will be asked to leave, and we can help you finish your order by phone or email. 

+ Mask wearing: Our staff will be wearing masks. Masks are strongly encouraged for our customers, but they are not mandatory.

+ Children: At this time we do ask that when possible, you leave your children at home. If you need to bring them in please note, we are only admitting 2 people per party, which includes children. We ask that you keep your child with you at all times in the shop, and help us keep them safe by reminding them not to touch things.

+ Dogs : At this time we do ask that when possible, you leave your dogs at home, to ensure lots of space for everyone in the store.

+ Payment: All forms of payment are accepted, but we prefer contactless payment whenever possible.

+ Respect each other. Please respect social distancing and keep at least 2 meters from staff and other customers while waiting to come into the shop, and while moving around the store. 

+ Respect our staff. Please follow the directions of the staff. Their job is to help you with your stationery needs, create a positive experience when you visit, and most importantly, to keep you and themselves safe. Any type of abuse towards our hard-working team will not be tolerated.

Curbside Pick-up

Great news: Curbside Pickup isn’t going away! Simply go to our online shop and follow the steps below, when your order is ready we will contact you with pickup details!

Pickup times for curbside orders will be from 12 – 5 from Tuesday – Saturday.
